First half horror show seals 'miners' fate

A first half performance that was both disappointing and uncharacteristic was the catalyst to a devastating defeat at Bishop Sutton on Friday night. The initial twenty minutes were fairly even and Radstock even carved out a couple of decent opportunities to take the lead but the chances went begging and as the home sides midfield took control of proceedings it was no surprise when they took the lead in the twenty first minute, they doubled the lead three minutes later and looked likely to score every time they went forward as the Radstock game plan fell apart, their normal passing fluency was lost, tackling was totally inept and decision making non-existent. The third goal came in the 40th minute and things could have been worse had it not been for a great save from Scrivens.
The half time break saw two substitutions for the visitors and that did improve the performance and the miners did create a number of opportunities to reduce the deficit but the goal that could have shook the Sutton resolve never came and they 'rubbed salt' into the Radstock wound by adding a fourth goal five minutes from the end.
A difficult result to take for the visiting supporters whose early season optimism has been severely tested with the last two performances but with everyone seemingly capable of beating everyone else in the league there is still plenty to play for!
