RTFC 4 v 1 Longwell Green

Radstock were on the front foot from the start of the game and went ahead on eight minutes when Luke Ingram's pinpoint cross was headed past the despairing dive of visiting keeper Jamie Powell. The lead was doubled in the 15th minute when Jack Biddescombe pulled the ball back from the by line into the path of Morgan Skipp for him to side foot the ball into the unguarded net. The miners should have put the game beyond the visitors ten minutes later but Rustell choose to shoot well wide with Skipp standing unmarked on the six yard line!
This wasn't a one sided game though and the visitors created chances of their own with both Lee Oswin and Danny Carter shooting over from good positions.
The break came with the 'miners' leading 2-0 but with a lot of hard work to do if they were going to secure the points.
The second half started with the miners on the back foot and Scrivens was forced to make a good save from Carter before yet another moment of indecisiveness from the home defenders allowed Oswin to pick up the ball and smash high into the net to half the arrears. Longwell Green were firing on all cylinders following the goal and reduced the home side to attacking only on the break but it was from one of those that Josh Greenwood was adjudged to have pulled Rustell down in the box by the referee and was sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity. Rustell stepped up to score from the resultant penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way and to restore the two goal advantage.
Things then went from bad to worse then for the visitors when Danny Crater was sin binned for arguing with the officials and the home side took full advantage of the Longwell Green lack of numbers when Rustell was put through by Josh Howe to lob the ball over the advancing keeper to claim his second hat trick of the season.
The scoreline could have been worse for the visitors with Simon Millard, Rico Sobers and Morgan Marsh all shooting straight at the keeper from good positions.
Another three points and good performance from the home side but with some very hard tests to come they really do need to learn how to kill teams off rather than letting them back in the game.
